MISB INTRODUCTION
Maritime Intelligence Sdn Bhd is the operating company for the Netherlands Maritime University
College (NMUC). NMUC is a Dutch/Malaysian private higher learning institute specializing in
maritime education and a dynamic solution provider to the maritime industry. Their Dutch partner
are two renowned Dutch Maritime education institutes, namely Maritiem lnstituut Willem
Barentsz {MIWB) and Maritime lnstituut de Ruyter (MIR). They were founded in 1875 & 1903,
respectively.
NMUC offer unique programs to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of the maritime
industry and its component elements, interfaces and operations. NMUC’s courses fully take
account of new legislation and the changing pattern and development of the maritime industry.
NMUC’s academic programs are approved by MQA and MOHE, and will also be accredited by the
above two Dutch Institutes. This provides a conduit to pursue higher education in Europe and
NMUC graduates employability is further strengthened not only in Malaysia but also in EU
countries.
NMUC Diploma programs comprise of 7 semesters over a 2.5-year period. The highlights are a
subsidized optional 2-week study tour in the Netherlands and a 4-month internship either locally
or in Europe plus organized field trips to relevant maritime industry sectors. Subsequently, NMUC
Diploma students can pursue their Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree at Maritiem lnstituut
Willem Barentsz and Maritiem lnstituut de Ruyter and other universities in Netherlands.
NMUC will initially offer Diploma-level courses covering maritime transportation, port and
shipping management, offshore maritime operations, maritime law, maritime HSSE, maritime Oil
and Gas to logistics, ports, leisure, water management, fisheries, safety, security, warehousing,
environment etc. NMUC will work closely and partner on the strength of Pelorus and Dutch
international organizations and universities in these specialized and lucrative business activities.
MISB is a leading independent consultancy firm offering a wide spectrum of training, research and consultancy activities in the field of safety, behaviour-based strategy, management, operation and logistic development in ports, shipping and logistic industries.
The Members are highly regarded for their wide and extensive high-level management experience in the ports, transport and maritime Industries.
This in-depth experience gives the team a strong foundation on which to develop sound and workable solutions to a wide range of challenges. The team is further supported by local and international group of visiting consultants and profesionals from related fields.
MISB has grown organically with better capabilities and services offering through strategic partnerships with global leaders in maritime education, training , and services such as Maritiem Instituut Willem Barentsz (MIWB) Maritiem Instituut De Ruyter (MIDR) and Netherlands Maritime Technology (formerly known as Holland Marine Equipment) of the Netherlands, Kongsberg Maritime of Norway, Northern Marine of Scotland, Southampton Solent University of the UK , Australian Maritime College of Australia and World Maritime University of Sweden.
